Vice President Liu Tianjun Leads Northwest A&F University Delegation to Review Kehua AI Natural Product Platform

        On 23 December 2024, Liu Tianjun—Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Northwest A&F University—led a 10-person delegation including Prof. Liu Xuebo (Director, Office of International Cooperation and Exchange), Prof. Wang Xiaojie (Director, National Key Laboratory for Crop Stress Resistance and High-Efficiency Production), Prof. Xia Xianli (Director, Development and Reform Office), Prof. Li Xuejun (Dean, College of Agronomy), Prof. Guo Jun (Dean, College of Plant Protection), Prof. Li Juxiu (Associate Dean, College of Food Science and Engineering), and Associate Prof. Li Wanqiang (Deputy Director, Science & Technology Development Institute). Accompanied by Director Wu Feng of the Shenzhen Research Institute, the group visited Kehua AI’s natural product R&D platform for an in-depth review.

        Chairman Dr. Zhang Xiaolong presented the platform’s development, highlighting its foundation within the Shenzhen Virtual University Park key laboratory system, joint construction with the Shenzhen Research Institute, and collaboration with alumni experts from CAS, Peking University, Sun Yat-sen University, Southeast University, and others. Leveraging more than four decades of technical accumulation, the platform now hosts South China’s largest natural product compound library and database, actively advancing synthetic biology and innovative drug discovery programs.

        Vice President Liu and accompanying university leaders applauded the platform’s milestones, encouraging the team to keep expanding its world-class capabilities in the Greater Bay Area. Discussions explored applications of natural products in functional foods, cosmetics, crop protection, antibiotic alternatives, and development of specialty medicinal resources. The delegation pledged continued support for translating Northwest A&F University’s research outputs into impactful outcomes across the region.
